During the 2015 National Craft Championships (NCC) Team Competition, Mike Bradley took home the gold medal with the rest of Team Iowa. In the second of a two-part blog post, Bradley shares his experience at the National Craft Championships and how it will help his career and his company. Bradley currently works for Iowa Insulation in Ames, Iowa.

It was an honor to compete against and among so many dedicated professionals at the National Craft Championships (NCC). I was truly blown away by the whole week.

I got to work with a great group of guys and we were able to take home gold.

While doing that, I got to know the plumber on our team a lot better. He just so happens to be the plumber who I currently coordinate with on a big hospital job in Ames, Iowa. By being at and winning nationals together, we have an even greater respect for each other and a bond that can never be broken. Our experience at NCC will certainly strengthen the relationship between my company and his.

At first, I was surprised by the scale of everything. The building was big, the deck was big, the group was big, and the personalities were big. It was a bit of shock when I first saw everything and how it was set up.

I enjoyed the practical test the most. I truly believed our team was going to win based upon the way we completed our tasks and worked so seamlessly together. It was a thrill to work with four individuals who are as completely immersed in their craft as I am mine. Nothing beats being given the chance to put your skills to the test and coming out on top.

It was a feeling I will never forget.

I am honored and delighted that I was able to represent Iowa at the NCC this year and can’t wait to see what next year brings. GO TEAM IOWA!!!
