Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) Cumberland Valley Chapter graduated 25 apprentices from their training program, the Barr Construction Institute, located in Hagerstown, Md.

The graduates, who spent the last four years training in their respective skilled trade while working to get hands-on experience, were applauded for their decision to join the construction workforce.

Maryland Department of Labor Apprenticeship Field Representative Bill Saxman compared the average $50,000 salary a degree from a construction training program provides to the average entry-level worker to the salary of a college graduate, $45,000.

ABC Cumberland Valley Chapter President Will Seilhamer, commended the students and reiterated the opportunities available to those who go through training programs such the Barr Construction Institute, which offers training in electrical, heating, air-conditioning, plumbing and carpentry.
