University of Cincinnati Wins the ABC Construction Management Competition
The University of Cincinnati took home first-place out of the twenty-one schools that competed in the Fall 2013 ABC Student Chapter Construction Management Competition (CMC) held Nov. 2-5 in Las Vegas, Nev. The competition started in September when the students were given a request for proposal and spent the next two months preparing to bid on the project, testing their skills in project management, estimating, safety, quality control and presentation.

The University of Cincinnati Student Chapter team accepts their award for first-place from ABC National Chairman, Greg Hoberock.
After putting the bid together, students presented the project to a panel of judges as if they were presenting to the client. The CMC is designed to give the students a chance to use what they learn in the classroom and apply it to a real-world situation. The competition challenges the students’ knowledge of the industry, time management, organizational, and presentation skills.
In addition to the overall winners, first, second and third place were awarded for each of the categories the projects were judged on including quality control, safety, project management and estimating.
